Bareboat Yacht Charter Holidays

Bareboat charter is the solution if you want total control of your sailing holiday. With our full support and back-up at all times, we’re certain your sailing adventure will be an unforgettable experience.

We pride ourselves on keeping our prices low, affordable and value for money. Here’s a link to our price page: https://ionianbluesailing.co.uk/yachts-info-prices/

Your Ionian yacht charter holiday begins on stunning Kefalonia. We organise your taxi transfer to the yacht and meet you on board to help you settle in. A thorough briefing/handover is followed by a demonstration covering all aspects of your sailing yacht, particularly safety.

For some, it can be great fun devising your own Ionian yacht charter itinerary. Others might want to discuss their Ionian sailing route with us first. Whatever you decide, we’re available 24/7, with daily weather texts to the on board mobile phone and sail route planning assistance throughout the week.

For recently qualified skippers and crew, chartering a yacht in the Ionian is a fabulous opportunity to gain confidence and quality sea miles. However, we know this can be a nervy experience so a Day Refresher course with a RYA qualified instructor is a great idea and provides a real confidence boost for crew & skipper. Our friendly and enthusiastic approach will teach you the basics and ensure that your skipper gets a grip on the Ionian stern-to mooring techniques. It’s a very flexible, informal & fun day or part-day where you set the pace.

Take a look at our FAQs page for some useful information on preparing for your sailing holiday.

Legal Requirements for Bareboat Yacht Charter

For bareboat sailing yacht charters, Greek law requires that the yacht skipper has at least an ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or national equivalent. Since BREXIT, UK skippers holding RYA certificates such as Day Skipper must now apply for the ICC in order to bareboat charter in Greece. This can be done through the RYA for a small fee. Follow this link for more information https://www.rya.org.uk/knowledge/abroad/icc.  Also, one crew member should have some previous sailing experience and be able to handle the yacht in case of emergency.

“I have been meaning to drop you a quick mail to say how much we enjoyed ourselves. Your part was an amazing contribution to the success of our holiday. I have been in and around pleasure boats of all types for forty plus years and am very aware of the efforts it takes to present a boat as well as you managed. Everything worked, every time, every day. A fine recommendation in my book.”
